About

Every bouzouki starts from a piece of wood.

At the KOUL-CO workshop, we craft bouzoukia, tzourades, and baglamades by hand, one by one.

Scroll down to see how it's made.

The boat

The staves are bent using heat and glued one by one onto the mold. The wood of the body—walnut, mulberry, or rosewood—gives the instrument its depth of sound.

The lid

Fir or cedar, worked to the right thickness. The instrument’s voice emanates from the soundboard, which is why we devote the greatest attention to it.

The fretboard

Ebony, wenge, or rosewood. The frets are installed with millimeter precision so that every note rings out clearly along the entire length of the neck.

The figure

The figure and the details are the instrument's signature. On yours, you can choose them yourself.
